چکیده
The Corona Virus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic represents an ongoing worldwide challenge. present large study sought to understand independent and overlapping metabolic features of samples from acutely ill patients (n = 831) that tested positive 543) or negative 288) for COVID-19. High-throughput metabolomics analyses were complemented with antigen enzymatic activity assays on plasma collected while in the emergency department, at admission, during hospitalization. Lipidomics also performed COVID-19-positive -negative subjects lowest highest body mass index 60/group). Significant changes amino acid fatty acid/acylcarnitine metabolism emerged as highly relevant markers disease severity, progression, prognosis a function biological clinical variables these patients. Further, machine learning models trained by entering all data half COVID-19 patient cohort then other half, yielding ~78% prediction accuracy. Finally, extensive amount information accumulated this large, prospective, observational provides foundation mechanistic follow-up studies sharing opportunities, which will advance our understanding characteristics acute critical illnesses.
